Dear friends of Filofest,

We regret to inform you that this year's Filofest is taking a leave of absence and won’t be coming back until next year. The Filofest team is saying goodbye and moving on to face new challenges.

We are sorry to say that we were unable to attract new team members who would be prepared to take on the task of putting together Filofest 2008. We sincerely hope to succeed in putting together a new team of enthusiastic young students, prepared to put in long hours to organise an even more astonishing Filofest 2009.

Let us use this opportunity to thank everyone who helped Filofest become a big and successful student film festival. We would like to thank our sponsors, co financiers, partners and every single one of you who helped make this festival what it is (or was). Thank you.

You can expect some more video material available at this website shortly. We will upload our Video Workshop productions from 2006 and 2007 and also show you the wonderful promo film of Filofest 2007. Hope you enjoy the stuff. We’re sure it will help you remember all the great times we had together.

The awards of the second Filofest were handed out. The members of the jury awarded the following films:

The winning video of the 'Video Workshop', THE LIPSTICK AND THE RAZOR, was shot and edited by Simon Chang.

This marks the end of Filofest 2007. This year 5463 spectators visited our screenings. We sincerely thank everyone who participated and congratulate all the winners.

Tomorrow, Filofest 2007 is beginning. All the screenings will take place in Hall 34, at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana.

We will start with two films, which received rewards at our last year's festival. At 10.30 the screening of the Spanish-Argentinean film AMOR SANJUÁN will take place. The film received the award for best screenplay. You are also invited to attend the screening of last year's Best Direction Award winner, the film TATITA.

At exactly 12 o'clock, the grand opening of Filofest will begin. The organisers will use this opportunity to open the exhibition of film posters for foreign films, made by Slovenian designers.

At 12.30 pm the lights will once again go out and you will be taken to the wonderful world of student cinema. The first day will be concluded with last year's Best Film Award winner PERFECT.

Make sure you join us at the Piano Bar in the centre of Ljubljana, where the Opening Party will begin at 9 pm.

The Filofest Press Conference will take place on Monday, 3rd December 2007, at 12 o'clock in the Blue Room (5th floor of the Faculty of Arts). Your questions will be answered by Prof. Valentin Bucik, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Mart D. Buh, Vice Dean Student of the Faculty of Arts and Filofest Director, Aleksandra Milovanović, Head of Programme, and last but not first - two members of the Jury - Urška Kos and Matjaž Ivanišin. We just published the list of films that will be shown at this year's Filofest. The PROGRAMME section should also be be published soon. We apologize for any and all mistakes and links that are not working. We will correct all mistakes as soon as we locate them. Look at the JURY section of our website to see who the members of this year's jury are. We also published their photographs and short CVs. Please note that the part of our Rules and Regulations concerning the jury has changed slightly - read more about it inside the JURY section.

The selection process was concluded yesterday. Out of 347 films that applied, we chose the best ones. All entrants have already been notified about the results. The programme and screening schedules will be announced shortly.

Tomorrow the extended deadline for entries will be over. The selection process will be finished by the end of the month and everyone will be notified about the results via email. The programme, the accompanying programme and the jury info will be published soon.

The introductory meeting for all volunteers will take place on Thursday, 25th October 2007, at 6 pm in the Blue Room (former classroom 526, located on the fifth floor of the Faculty of Arts). Attendance is obligatory for all volunteers, because you will get to meet the entire Filofest Team, get important information about your work and about the festival itself, be divided into groups and get your picture taken for your Filofest identity card. All those who still wish to apply for the position can do so until Monday, 22nd October 2007.

We received some individual requests for a submission deadline extension. Based on those requests we decided to extend the deadline for all submissions. The new deadline is 1st November 2007. All packages sent after this date will not be accepted.

We have updated our Multimedia section. In addition to new photographs and videos (Filofest Goes to the Seaside), we added cool Filofest Wallpapers for your desktop. We also added another section called Press. There you can take a look at the Filofest media clippings in PDF format or download a bundle containing Filofest graphic design files.

Some parts of the website are currently under construction (especially Multimedia and Press). We ask you to be patient.

We are searching for volunteers to work at our festival (at the Filofest reception and info point, in the screening hall and in the promotion department). Students can apply by contacting our Promotion Coordinator Rok Avbar at rok@filofest.com. Please send your applications no later than Monday, 22th October 2007. We look forward to working with you.

We ask all applicants to read the Rules and Regulations of the festival carefully. Apart from the filled out and signed Application Form, you need to enclose TWO selection copies of the film on DVD, and all the obligatory enclosures (short synopsis, complete cast list, photos from the film, photo of the director, biography and filmography of the director, original dialogue list) on DVD or CD. Do not send us documentation that is printed out on paper. We are looking forward to your films.

The Filofest team has returned from Capodistria alive and well. The team attended the fifth five-day Fuldbest Festival. In the comfort of Taverna in Capodistria, we screened the Best of Filofest 2006 selection of Slovenian and foreign films of various genres. We were pleasantly surprised by the response of the public which was happy to view the screenings in the direct vicinity of the seaside. Filofest’s visit of the seaside was successful and pleasant; we would like to thank the Cultural and Educational Society PINA (www.pina.si) for their invitation and hospitability, as well as for their support and interest in our work. We also thank the visitors and the viewers of our screenings. If you weren’t there, make sure you come visit us in December.

The Filofest team has decided to combine business and pleasure and was happy to respond to the invitation of the PINA Society and the Students Association of Capodistria. The invitation to Capodistria is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for us to present the best of last year's Filofest films, as well as a chance to kick back and relax and get in shape for Filofest 2007, which will be held in December in Ljubljana. FILOFEST GOES TO THE SEASIDE will take place in Taverna in the coastal city of Koper between 25th and 28th August 2007.

We have prepared a selection of Slovene and foreign films of various genres for the visitors of the Fuldbest festival to enjoy. On Saturday, a selection of short fiction and experimental films will be shown. The first day will end with a Taiwanese horror film and an Argentinean documentary that got the Best Screenplay Award at last year’s Filofest. On Sunday, we will screen films produced by Swedish students. The third day will offer three short films by students from Germany and a film from Kosovo, which won the Award for Best Direction last year. On the last night of the festival, you will be able to see a selection of short animated films, while the last screening will be perfect – we will show the winning film of last year’s Filofest entitled Perfect.

Greetings, dear friends of film and culture. We are finally here again, refreshed, rested and ready for the second International Student Film and Video Festival – FILOFEST 2007. This year's festival will again be hosted at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana and will run from December 10 to December 14. In the five days you will be able to see a diverse selection of student film productions from Slovenia and the rest of the world.

In the competition part of the programme you will be able to see independent student films, while the non-competition part of the programme will screen films by students from various film schools and academies. You will be able to see feature and short fiction films, documentaries, animated and experimental films. Aside from the regular programme, we will also feature special programme sections that should remain a secret for now. This year's turn-in deadline starts on September 1 and closes on October 15.

FILOFEST wouldn't be a festival if it didn't offer an extensive accompanying programme, such as exhibitions, concerts, workshops, lectures, roundtables and other social events. Of course, there is no entrance fee for the screenings and other festival events.
