FILOFEST 2010!, published: 11.05.2010

Attention, filmlovers!

After a two - year break we are finally here again; refreshed, rested and ready for the third International Student Film and Video Festival – FILOFEST 2010.
This year's festival will again be hosted by the Faculty of Arts (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia) and will run from 6 December 2010 to 10 December 2010. Along with its primary role as a film festival, FILOFEST will be accompanied by a rich additional programme in the form of lectures, panel discussions, exhibitions, social happenings and other events. In 2007, 99 films from more than 22 countries were shown at the festival, which by far surpassed all expectations of the organizing committee. Students are again kindly invited to participate and send in their creations. This year's turn-in deadline starts on 1 September 2010 and runs through 15 October 2010.
Once they get accepted, the films will be further divided into two categories; the competitive part of the programme is open exclusively to independent student films whose authors are amateurs without formal film education. The non-competitive part of the programme is open exclusively to films directed by students of film academies or film schools. The festival accepts fiction, documentary, animated and experimental films; and everything in between. There is no length limit.
The application form, as well as the full version of the festival rules, can be found at www.filofest.com. A printed-out, correctly filled out and signed copy of the application form has to be enclosed in the package, together with two selection copies of the film in DVD PAL format, region free. Each DVD can contain one film only. In case the applicant sends more than one film, each of the films has to be on a separate DVD. Along with the printed-out application form and two copies of the film on DVDs, the applicant has to enclose a CD with the following files: a text file with a short synopsis of the film, a text file with the complete cast list, photos from the film, photo of the director, a text file with the biography and filmography of the director, and a text file with the original dialogue list. Applicants should not send any of the obligatory enclosures on paper or via email.
All submitted films have to be subtitled in English unless the dialogues are in clear English. The same rule applies to both copies. The selection copy will be used as the screening copy.

The material is to be sent to the festival address:
FILOFEST
Filozofska fakulteta
Askerceva 2
1000 Ljubljana
Slovenia
Europe

With "FOR SELECTION – DO NOT OPEN" on the package.
It is obligatory for the applicants to meet the deadline. It is not possible to apply after the deadline. Applications sent after the deadline and incomplete applications will not be accepted. There is no application fee. The festival does not return selection copies. After having sent the selection copy, the applicant is required to notify the festival via e-mail. In the e-mail, the applicant has to give his or her name and contact number, the date of sending the package, the title of the film, the AWB number if possible (only for air mail). For further information visit our website at www.filofest.com or send us an e-mail at info@filofest.com.
The selection closes on 15 November 2010. The results of the selection will be published on the official festival website (www.filofest.com) 10 days after the closing of the selection.
In case of discrepancies between the above-written text and festival rules published on the official festival website, the latter should be considered.

Visit us in December and do not miss the one-of-a-kind opportunity to see some of the best student films in a relaxed environment, our diverse accompanying programme and a chance to meet young film-makers from all over the world.
FILOFEST is expecting you!
