SYNOPSIS

 

Kingdom of the Clouds is a mountaineering documentary about an expedition to an unexplored mountain area of the Kunlun Shan in China. The material for the film was shot in the summer of 2005 and it shows the team’s journey through the breathtaking scenery of the northern Pakistan along the ancient Silk Road and into the area under military control close to the Tajik border. The film includes the mountaineering accomplishments of the expedition members, who conquer three virgin peaks, and their encounter with the local villagers.  

 

DIRECTOR PROFILE

 

ANŽE ČOKL (born in 1982 in Ljubljana, Slovenia) is an undergraduate student of mechanical engineering. He started climbing at the age of 16 and four years later he was already an alpinist instructor.

In only a few years of his climbing career, he has shot more than 70 short films. In 2006, he presented two of his largest projects: Powder Hunters and Kingdom of the Clouds. Anže remains passionate about filming and is currently working on his new project.
